After a Discussions meeting has finished, a video is generated in the background which is available for viewing a few minutes later. This recording allows you to download the video or audio-only version, see a transcript, or follow along with the public chat log, backroom chat log, and see any notes that were recorded during the meeting.
To access a previously recorded meeting, go to the Discussions dashboard and select the relevant project. Click the Pencil icon on the appropriate line. Then, within the project, scroll down to the Manage Sessions section.
From here, click on the play button (right arrow) on the right side of the line to open the playback window.
The screen is divided into three main sections:
Main video window: The main video is displayed in the top-left section, showing all participants who were in the meeting at a particular point on the meeting timeline. The window has some video control buttons, including play/pase, skip forward/backward 10 seconds, playback speed control, and a slider to go to a specific point in the recording.
Information and download buttons: This area is directly below the main video. Here you can view information about the session and who the participants and Moderators were. In addition, the Download button allows you to download:
Video: to download the video (which includes the audio), select the Video option.
Audio: to download just the audio from the meeting, select the Audio option.
Transcript: To download a text transcript of the meeting, select the Transcript option. The downloaded file is in the .xlsx format.
Chat Log & Notes: To download a copy of the meeting chat log and any notes made by the Moderator, select the Chat Log & Notes option. The downloaded file is in the .xlsx format.
Transcript and call logs. This area is to the right of the main video display and contains four tabs containing textual, time-stamped information that was recorded or transcoded during the call. In all cases, the text can be scrolled in sync with the video by ensuring the Auto-scroll button. The tabs are:
Session Transcript: After the meeting has ended, a transcript is generated and displayed here. You can jump directly to the time in the video by clicking on any of the lines in the transcript.
Public Chat log: A record of any chat comments made by the Moderator or participants during the meeting can be viewed under this tab.
Backroom Chat Log: A record of any chat comments made by the Moderator and Observers, excluding any comments made by the participants can be viewed under this tab.
Notes: Any notes made by the Moderator(s) can be viewed under this tab.
