This section contains a list of troubleshooting hints and tips to help you make the most of your Discussions meeting.
How do I join a Discussions meeting?
When you confirmed which session you would like to attend, you will have received a confirmation email with a link to the meeting. Follow the link in that email to join the meeting. If you are using a mobile device, you must use the Discussions, app available from your App Store. If you are using a laptop or desktop computer, you can join using your default browser (Chrome, Edge, or Safari).
How do I obtain the app to attend a Discussions meeting on a mobile device?
Mobile aplications are available for both Apple iOS and Google Android devices. If you have been invited to participate in a Forsta Discussions meeting, you will have received an email inviting you to select a time and date for the session. After you have done this, you will receive a meeting confirmation email which contains joining information and links to download iOS or Android apps their your respective App Stores. Alternatively, if you wish to download directly, go to your device's App Store, search for Discussions and locate and install the app published by Forsta.
Note: If you are using a desktop or laptop computer to join a Discussions meeting, you do not need to download anything. You can join the meeting using the link in the confirmation email and use your desktop browser (Chrome, Edge or Safari).
What desktop browsers are supported?
If you are not using a mobile device to attend a Discussions meeting, you can use your standard browser. Chrome and Edge browsers are fully supported. Safari is also supported, but only one video stream will be visible at any one time (usually the meeting member who is talking).
| Feature | Supported By | Not Support By |
| Render multiple video streams | Chrome, Firefox, Edge | Safari |
| 720p video (send) | Chrome | Firefox, Safari, Edge |
| Share tab audio | Chrome, Edge | Firefox, Safari |
| Screen share (send) | Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge | None |
Notes:
Render multiple video streams: Chrome, Firefox, and Edge support displaying multiple videos simultaneously. Safari displays only the active speaker's video.
720p video (send): Exclusive to Chrome.
Share tab audio: Available on Chrome and Edge. Absent in Firefox and Safari.
Screen share (send): Universallly supported across the listed browsers.
Recommendations
For a full-feature experience, use Chrome. Firefox and Edge have minor limitations. Safari users should be aware of its limitations, especially regarding multiple video rendering (there is warning banner in-app indicating this limitation).
People can't hear or see me when I use my mobile device for a Discussions meeting
It is possible you have denied microphone and/or camera access for the Discussions app. To solve, go to your device's Settings page and locate application privacy settings to ensure that Discussions can access your microphone and/or camera.
For Android (11 and up), go to Settings and search for the Permission Manager settings. From here, check both Camera and Microphone settings to see if Discussions is present in the 'Not allowed' section. If they are, click on Discussions and modify the setting appropriately.
People can't hear or see me when I use my web browser during a Discussions meeting
It is possible you have denied microphone and/or camera access for the browser you are using. To solve:
Chrome: Within Chrome, go to Settings and then the Privacy and Security tab. Select Site Settings and click on the website you are currently using and are having difficult with. From the list of resulting permissions, ensure Camera and Microphone are set to Ask (default) or Allow. You may need to reload the current page for the settings to take effect.
Edge: Within Edge, go to Settings and check the Cookies and site permissions tab. Within here, check the Camera and Microphone permissions for entries in the Block section. If you make changes, you will need to reload the current page for the settings to take effect.
Safari: If no audio can be heard
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Sound in the sidebar.
Click Output on the right then select the device you want to use in the list of sound output devices.
People can't hear me when I share a browser tab or enter screen
When you share a browser tab or entire screen using Chrome or Edge browsers, you have the option to share your browser tab or system (depending on what you share) audio. If you choose to share the audio, your microphone will be muted. To unmute your microphone, you will need to stop sharing. Make sure the share audio checkbox is unticked when starting to share if you wish your microphone to remain active during the share.
