You can join a Discussions meeting as a participant on your computer by following the link in your confirmation email (received when you select the session).
Receiving the Link
Select Join a Meeting in the email you received to join the session.
Logging In
Select Join a Meeting to open the session in a web browser. If prompted, enter your display name. This is required only if a display name has not been predefined for you. Before joining, you will be prompted to test your microphone, camera, and speakers.
Follow the on-screen instructions to ensure your equipment is working correctly. You may need to select “allow” in your browser when prompted to grant microphone and camera access.
If you prefer to use the Discussions app on your mobile device, you can scan the QR code provided. If you haven’t installed the app yet, scanning the QR code or clicking on the link will direct you to the App Store to download the appropriate app. After installing the app, scan the QR code or use the link again to access the session. See Receiving and Opening the Link for instructions.
Joining the Session
Select Join Session to request access to the session.
If you join the meeting early and the Moderator hasn't started the meeting earlier than scheduled, you will see a countdown timer indicating how long until the meeting is scheduled to start.
If the scheduled start time has elapsed but the Moderator has not yet joined, the Join Session button will be grayed out and inactive.
When the Join Session button becomes active (blue), you can click it to enter the Meeting Room. Click here for information on the browser-based Meeting Room.
Browser Support
The following browsers are supported:
| Browser | Supported? |
| Google Chrome | Fully supported |
| Microsoft Edge | Fully supported |
| Apple MacOS Safari | Fully supported |
| All other browsers | Not supported |
Note: For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers. Apple MacOS Safari has limited functionality as only a single video stream displays at time. This means only the active (and talking) participant or moderator's video is shown in the center of the screen. Other participants are shown at the top of the window in a carousel-style of display.
